A panel of experts from Dentons Kensington Swan, the world’s largest law firm, will run through a range of legal issues and relief measures for businesses in a COVID-19 lockdown world. Public law and commercial litigation specialist Hayden Wilson will lead off, with an outline of the key regulatory relief measures available to businesses, including the wage subsidy – how to access it and issues to be wary of – and will discuss some of the oddities of ‘essential’ businesses at various Alert Levels. Commercial property and construction law specialist Paula Ormandy will then walk us through some of the challenges being faced by landlords and tenants in the lockdown environment. Last, James McMillan, who heads the Dentons Kensington Swan Restructuring and Insolvency practice, will discuss the proposed safe harbour provisions for directors, as well as the new business debt hibernation scheme. The team will also discuss the firms newly launched resource hub, which explores the ideas, innovation and challenges that New Zealand will face in a post COVID world and how we can thrive in the next normal.
