Certification Committee Chair vacancy

Financial Advice New Zealand seeks to fill a vacancy for the Chair and member of the Association’s six-member Certification Committee. The Chair is an independent person who is not a member or employee of Financial Advice NZ, nor involved in a role in the financial services profession that would lead to a perceived or actual conflict of interest.

The overall Committee responsibilities include oversight and governance of:
– The professional supervision process.
– Review and approval of Supervision Agreements, Supervision Reports and Portfolio of Experience
– Approval of assessor-written case studies.
– Review and final assessment of financial plans for candidates preparing a comprehensive financial plan, as their final assessment towards the certification mark of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM
– Awarding and re-instatement of certification marks of the Association.

Essential experience:
– Knowledge of current relevant legislation, regulation to financial advice.
– Specific experience and knowledge in some or all of the following areas; financial planning, insurance risk management, retirement planning, financial management, estate planning, tax planning, lending advice and investment planning.

Desirable experience:
– Experience as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM or Certified Life UnderwriterCM for at least three years in New Zealand.
– Academic experience or assessment experience.

The Committee meets 4-5 times per year with at least one face-to-face meeting.  The work in this role is paid $1,000 for a full day meeting and $500 for a half day meeting and the Chair is appointed by the board for two years.
