The Investment Store, in conjunction with our fund manager partners are pleased to provide details of our latest series of Investment Briefings. A 10 year bull market, low and falling interest rates, decelerating economic growth, heightened trade war risks. Are we in Wonderland? Or about to fall down a hole? Join our panel of investment experts discuss current thinking on investment markets.
Presentation descriptions:
Global Macro Update and Outlook – Phil Borkin, Senior Strategist at JBWere in New Zealand will update you on some of the key global macro drivers impacting the global economy and markets, and discuss current views on asset allocation in today’s environment.
Australasian Equity Update – Devon Portfolio Managers Nick Dravitzki and Tama Willis, will examine key factors likely to influence NZ and Australian equities in the coming period and discuss where they believe the best investment opportunities lie.
Investing in Global Equities – Montaka Global Investments CIO Andrew Macken will discuss how Montaka are currently seeing global equity markets; will examine the benefits of investing in a portfolio of high quality, undervalued global businesses experiencing structural tailwinds; and provide an update and overview of Montaka’s global equity strategies.
Josh Wilson, CIO of Clarity Funds Management will provide some topical commentary on local and global markets and update you on the Clarity Global Shares Fund.
Video Updates – Our briefing will include video updates from Richard Quin, Lead Portfolio Manager at Bentham Asset Management (who will provide an update on global credit and fixed income markets); and Mugunthan Siva, Managing Director of India Avenue (who will provide an update on the Indian economy and markets post this year’s national election).

About the Presenters
Matt Mimms (MC) – Matthew Mimms is the Managing Director and founder of the Investment Store. Matthew has 29 years’ experience in the investment management and financial services industry both in New Zealand and the UK.
Nick Dravitzki – BA, BCom, LLB, CFA – Portfolio Manager Devon Funds Management Nick has been with Devon since early in 2010 and is the portfolio manager for Dividend Yield Fund, Alpha Fund and the Diversified Income Fund. Prior to joining Devon, Nick was an analyst at NZ Funds Management Limited and assisted with portfolio construction and trading. Nick’s advantage lies in his broad understanding of Trans-Tasman investment opportunities, having covered a wide range of stocks and sectors during his 13 years in the industry. Nick also has primary research responsibility for the Property, IT, Discretionary and Staples sectors.
Tama Willis – BCom, BA – Portfolio Manager – Tama joined Devon in 2012 after a very successful career overseas where he held positions at Government of Singapore Investment Corporation as Senior Vice President, Natural Resources, Fidelity (London) and Deutsche Bank (London). Tama now has responsibility for stock selection and portfolio construction for the Australian & Trans-Tasman strategies. Tama also has primary research responsibility for the Metals and Mining, Oil and Gas and Financials sectors.
Josh Wilson – Josh Wilson joined Clarity following a successful career at NZ Funds, where he was the Portfolio Manager for Australasian equities over an eight-year period. Throughout that time he was responsible for company research and portfolio construction, and brings a proven track record in the management of Australasian equity strategies. Prior to NZ Funds Josh worked as an Equity Analyst for Collins Stewart in London and AMP Capital in Wellington. Josh has direct responsibility for the Clarity Dividend Yield and Clarity Trans-Tasman funds and overall responsibility for Clarity’s other investment strategies.
Andrew Macken – Chief Investment Officer, Montaka Global Investments – Andrew returned to Australia in 2014 to establish Montaka, and brought with him a highly valued skillset on the short side which is becoming increasingly valuable in today’s global equity market environment. After spending nearly four years as a senior member of Jim Chanos’ research team at Kynikos Associates, a multi-billion dollar global long/short fund based in New York, Andrew has developed particular expertise in short portfolio management. Prior to this, Andrew worked as a management consultant at Port Jackson Partners (PJP), a leading advisor to corporates based in Australia and abroad. At PJP, Andrew focused on corporate strategy for major clients both in Australia and overseas. Andrew holds a Master of Business Administration (Dean’s List) from the Columbia Business School in New York. While at Columbia, Andrew was a member of the Applied Value Investing program through the prestigious Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing. Previous to this, Andrew also graduated with a Master of Commerce (High Distinction), focusing on Finance; and First Class Honours with a Bachelor of Engineering under a Co-Op Scholarship from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Andrew is a founding shareholder in Montaka Global Investments.
