Residential Property Lending Strand 3 day Workshop

October 21, 2019 @ 8:15 am - October 23, 2019 @ 4:00 pm NZDT

Course Overview

This course has been jointly developed between Financial Advice New Zealand and Professional IQ College (PIQ), with input from the major banks.

The course includes NZQA accredited Residential Property Lending Strand training and business and specialist lending.  As well as attending the three-days course, you will be required to complete 4 unit standard assessments after the course to receive the Residential Property Lending Strand Certificate.

The course’s practical format prepares new advisers for their regulatory requirements; how to work with lenders; meeting client needs and the practicalities of running a mortgage advice business. The course also incorporates feedback from the industry and has received strong support from both adviser dealer groups and lenders.

Being in-house, you gain the benefits of being with other students in an interactive and open learning environment that delivers greater levels of learning than other ‘online’ or ‘remote’ courses.  The course content includes loan structures and best practice loan applications.

Getting accreditation
Attaining the Residential Lending module is an education requirement to become accredited with some New Zealand lenders.  It is best to discuss your situation with the lenders to understand your individual accreditation requirements.

Some lenders also require advisers to belong to an ‘aggregation’ group Please note that the aggregation groups may also have their own requirements you must meet. Again, it is best to have a chat with the groups too. Find out what they offer and which one best fits you. If you would like to discuss these requirements and your eligibility to join an aggregation group please speak to course tutor Angi Mann who will refer you to the appropriate person.

Required Qualifications to be a Residential Property Lending Adviser – in the future
By mid 2020 all new financial advises will be required, under the proposed new legislation and regulations, to attain the NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (NZCFSL5) in their area of advice.
By attaining now your Residential Lending module of that qualification, you have started down the path of meeting your future requirements!
(Note: if you are a financial adviser employed by a Financial Advice Provider under a ‘transitional licence’ before mid 2020 you will have until mid 2022 to attain your full competency requirements – that is: attaining both the ‘core component’ and ‘financial advice’ strand outcomes of the NZCFSL5)
