The Board of Financial Advice New Zealand announces CEO Katrina Shanks will leave the organisation in November.

Katrina was appointed as the inaugural CEO of Financial Advice New Zealand in 2018, bringing the three organisations representing financial advisers together.

“We thank Katrina sincerely for her work in establishing Financial Advice New Zealand as the professional body for financial advisers. Katrina’s legacy is a united, member focused, viable professional organisation. Under her leadership Financial Advice New Zealand is respected and trusted amongst the membership and stakeholders” said Board Chair Heather Roy.

“It has been my privilege to serve the membership over the last five years,” said Katrina Shanks.

“I truly believe quality advice transforms New Zealanders financial health, wealth, and wellbeing. This belief has been my point of reference when delivering advocacy, promotion, and ensuring professional standards are maintained. I believe as a professional body we have strived to provide the best environment for financial advisers to succeed.

“The last five years have seen a global pandemic, regulatory changes, changing business structures, difficult markets, uncertain financial times, and significant natural events. Through this time, members have shown resilience and agility and change and have relentlessly placed their clients’ interests first”.

“I thank the Board, the team at Financial Advice NZ and the members who have generously provided their knowledge, skill, time, and support. I wish the organisation the very best for the future”.

“Katrina leaves Financial Advice NZ in good shape and good heart. The board is proud of Katrina’s contribution to growing a professional member body during a period of significant challenge and change. We are stronger for her leadership, and she has set us up for growth into the future” Heather Roy said.

“We wish Katrina well in her next endeavours”.

The Board will begin a recruitment process for a new CEO soon.
