Financial Advice NZ appoints new Director to its Board

A new Independent Director was appointed to the Board of Financial Advice New Zealand on the 1st May.

The Board appointed Peter Fa’afiu as an Independent Member Director for a period of 3 years. Peter replaces David Kneebone, whose term had expired.

Peter comes to the Board with extensive governance experience across media, human rights, vocational training, community housing, sports administration, and education services. Peter is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors and has a Bachelor in Law and Bachelor of Arts.

“Peter Fa’afiu brings particular skills in the areas of strategy implementation, stakeholder engagement, Mana whenua / iwi / mataawaka engagement, strategic communications and media management. We are pleased to welcome Peter to the board” said Board Chair Heather Roy.

“I’m looking forward to using my diverse skills on the Financial Advice NZ Board.  I’ve had governance experience with membership organisations both in New Zealand and internationally.  New Zealanders are facing some challenging financial decisions so a growing professional, respected, and trusted industry body for Financial Advisers is needed now more than ever” Peter Fa’afiu said.

“The Board thanks David Kneebone for his contribution to Financial Advice NZ and the input he provided from a consumer advocacy perspective.” Mrs Roy said.
