Wednesday 10th March 2021 – Ready, set, go! – Webinar – Financial Adviser Panel on how they prepared for the duties and obligations in the new regime

This is a session where you will hear an experienced panel of financial advisers discuss how they prepared their advice businesses for the new regime. How they identified the gaps from their current advice business models to meet the duties and obligations of the new regime. How many changes were required and how they implemented these changes.

There will be an opportunity at the end to ask questions to the panel.
This session is for financial advisers and FAPs to who will be providing regulated advice in the new regime.

The panel consist of:

Sarah Johnston – Astute – CEO
Sarah Johnston has been in financial industry all of her working life. She spent 15 years working for Westpac and during her time there helped to established the Broker Unit and later run it for a number of years before joining Mortgage Express. Sarah has spent the last 16 years working for Mortgage Express and now Astute Financial because she is truly passionate about this industry and loves the people she has had the opportunity to work with. Always happy to give her time to those who genuinely what to learn and improve she is proud to be seen as a leader in this industry

Tim Fairbrother – RIVAL Wealth – Director and Financial Adviser
Tim has been a qualified, practising financial adviser in New Zealand since 2008, setting up local financial planning business RIVAL Wealth at the start of the Global Financial Crisis. The business has seen consistent growth since this time RIVAL Wealth won the prestigious Diversity Award for the best business in the country for work-life balance in 2018. Tim started his career at TOWER, and within 18 months had moved to the senior role of Business Development Manager. Tim spent 2 years working in a booming Irish financial industry as Head of Business Development for Oppenheim Investment Managers, significantly increasing new investments. Tim’s most recent accolade came from the National Financial Advice New Zealand Conference held in August 2019, with Tim receiving the Outstanding Adviser Award for Financial Planning.   Tim grew up in the Wairarapa before moving to Wellington to complete a double degree at Victoria University (BCA and BTSM). His areas of expertise focus on comprehensive financial planning, investment analysis and advice, farm and business succession, ACC advice, and KiwiSaver.

Paul Sewell – Financial Advice Hawkes Bay Ltd – Director & Financial Adviser
Paul has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specialising in investment, retirement planning and risk management. His Financial Services career began in New Zealand in banking gaining experience within foreign exchange, commercial and residential lending. He then practiced as a Financial Adviser whilst living in the UK. He practiced as a Senior Financial Adviser for seven years based in Wellington, then moved to Sydney, Australia and for nine years worked for one of the largest Fund Managers, his last position was in a General Management role within the Australian equities business

Rupert Gough – Founder and CEO of Mortgage Lab
Rupert Gough, runs the nationwide mortgage broking company from Tauranga.  Author of “The Successful First Home Buyer” and a regular contributor to OneRoof, Rupert’s mission is to educate NZ on all things mortgage through social media and the internet.
