Disputes Resolution Scheme (DRS) panel update

Join our Panel to discuss the trends and concerns they have in relation to the complaints they are receiving now the new regime has been implemented. This will include the complaints received with the implementation of the CCCFA. We have the Dispute Resolution Scheme (DRS) providers presenting their views.

Are advisers and providers meeting their obligations regarding complaints? Are there any areas that we still need to work on?

Our panel will provide a refresher on this important subject with examples and key insights for advisers.

The panelists:

Nicola Sladden, Banking Ombudsman. Nicola was appointed Banking Ombudsman in August 2015. She has over 20 years’ experience in dispute resolution, including four as Deputy Banking Ombudsman. Nicola was previously the Chief Legal Advisor at the Office of the Health and Disability Commissioner and has worked in private practice. She has published and presented on dispute resolution in New Zealand and abroad. Nicola is a consultant for the World Bank and on the board of FinCap and Malaghan.

Susan Taylor, CEO, Financial Services Complaints Ltd. As CEO of FSCL, Susan is responsible for the scheme and for leading the investigative and recommendation process. Susan, a lawyer, is the former Deputy Banking Ombudsman and has over 20 years’ experience in financial sector dispute resolution.

Karen Stevens, Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman. With a background in law and alternative dispute resolution, Karen was appointed as the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman in 1998. Karen and Deputy Ombudsman Louise Peters lead a team of Case Managers, with expertise in dispute resolution, law and the financial services industry.
