Bring in the Experts – Special Edition: FMA Update on Regulatory Returns

Join us for this special 1.5-hour webinar with an expert panel from the FMA to discuss in detail Regulatory Returns. Get your questions answered, gain clarity on what is required by each FAP and Financial Adviser to complete the Regulatory Return and understand what new information you need to start capturing now, and how.

While the Regulatory Return is not due to be submitted until September 2024 for the period 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024, it is important that you understand what information you will need to record and how you are going to do this in advance of 1 July 2023.

In this webinar, the FMA will give a ‘turn page’ presentation of the regulatory return in which they will work through each question and explain how to interpret them. Areas which will be expanded on are:

  • – What is considered a client? For example, if you have placed health cover for a family of 4 – how many clients do you count? Is a family unit considered 1 client, or do you separate each child and partner so you have 4 clients?
  • – What is a complaint?  For example, if a client has complained about a premium increase or market movement – is this considered a complaint?

Since many of the CRM systems are not set up to record all the necessary information, you’ll need to adopt new processes for recording the information on each client to whom you provide advice. To help with this, Financial Advice NZ has devised some recording tools which we’ll share and go through in detail.
